U.P.O. Guitarist Interviewed For Upcoming GUNS N' ROSES Documentary
May 18, 2004U.P.O. guitarist Chris Weber was reportedly interviewed for the upcoming VH1 documentary covering the early days of GUNS N' ROSES, tentatively set to air Wednesday, June 16, 2004. Weber, a former bandmate of GNR singer Axl Rose from from his pre-GUNS N' ROSES group, HOLLYWOOD ROSE, had sued Axl in 1998 claiming that he co-wrote two songs he was not credited for, "Shadow of Your Love" and "Back Off Bitch". Weber and Rose played together in a band called ROSE in 1983. Izzy Stradlin joined the group a short time later and the name was changed to HOLLYWOOD ROSE. They split up not long after with Rose going on to front the band L.A. GUNS and eventually GUNS N' ROSES.
As previously reported, the "Behind the Music"-style VH1 documentary, which will feature contributions from original members Slash (guitars) and Steven Adler (drums),will be followed by "The Making of Velvet Revolver", a behind-the-scenes look at how Slash's new band, VELVET REVOLVER (also featuring fellow ex-GNR members Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum),got constructed, from the songwriting process to the singer search and studio sessions. Other people that are expected to contribute to the GUNS N' ROSES documentary are Tom Zutaut (former A&R executive at Geffen Records),Josh Richman (video director),Teddy Andreadis (keyboard player),Dave Navarro (JANE'S ADDICTION, ex-RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS),Warren De Martini (ex-RATT),Gilby Clark (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) and Mike Clink (GNR producer).
